SHECKLER RECLAIMS GOLD AT X GAMES

Carlsbad, CA – August 4, 2008 – Ryan Sheckler was an 18 year old on a mission going into X Games 14 this past weekend in Los Angeles, California when he took home the gold medal in Skateboard Street.

Sheckler was taking no prisoners in the skateboard street contest throwing down a 180-kickflip and 360-kickflip off the 15 foot high subway roof in his first heat which earned him a 94.00 and was the highest score of the day. Sheckler’s fans were on the edge of their seat screaming with excitement during his second run after watching him land a caballero kickflip over the China gap securing the gold.

In 2003 Sheckler was the youngest gold medalist in X Games history and continues to hold that position. Now, five years later, Sheckler has regained his gold and has continued to prove he is a force to be reckoned with. This weekend’s podium was Sheckler’s third X Games medal which now includes two 1st place positions and one 2nd place which he walked away with in 2006. Fellow WMG athlete and Plan B rider, Paul Rodriguez, captured the silver medal after throwing down some impressive runs. “Plan B is in full effect!” Sheckler exclaimed after sweeping the 1st and 2nd place podium spots.

“This X Games was one of the hardest contests I have skated in and I have been working towards this since I was 13. I am in shock right now. The competition was awesome and it was great to skate with friends like Jereme and Paul because we feed off each other.” Sheckler said after his win.
